At 430 State Street, the Elks have been holding down a corner of Fort Morgan's civic life with a consistency that few organizations can match. Walk in on any given evening and you'll find a handful of regulars who've earned their seats at the main table, a staff that knows your name, and a room that's clean, uncluttered, and genuinely comfortable. The 4.3-star rating from members and guests isn't a marketing number, it's what happens when a place runs on real hospitality instead of pretense.

Lodge 1143 is a chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, one of America's oldest fraternal organizations, and membership means something here. The lodge actively supports local causes, including the Akron poker run, and opens its doors for public events like comedy shows that draw crowds who leave impressed by both the programming and the people running it. The building is well-maintained, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the humor from the regulars is genuinely earned.

What We Offer

Lodge 1143 operates as both a private members' club and a community event venue, which means the calendar stays busy. Members gather for regular lodge meetings, social nights, and charitable planning sessions. Guests are welcome at ticketed public events, which have included comedy shows, fundraiser nights, and community-benefit events like poker runs that support regional organizations across the Eastern Plains.

The facility at State Street is available for member-hosted private events and lodge-sanctioned gatherings. If you're not yet a member, attending a public event is the natural first step, and the staff makes newcomers feel at home from the moment they walk in. Membership applications are handled through the national Elks portal, and Lodge 1143 is happy to answer questions about the process.

"A little older crowd with their click at the main table but everyone was really friendly. There are a few especially funny regulars. Is a member specific place so for most events must be a guest, though also have events open to the public such as Bingo, a Christmas Eve event. Pool table, cards and darts down stairs. I believe you can rent out the upstairs banquet room for special events."

A Proud Heritage

The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
